Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk: we are restoring the word "labour" in the name of the ministry, this is an important signal

13.12.2023

The newly appointed Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, met with journalists at the Ministry's head office to talk about the direction of activities in the near future. - The restoration of the Ministry of Labour name is a symbolic but very important signal I would like to send today to the millions of working Poles: your work is appreciated and will be appreciated, the Minister said.

Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk

Personally this is an extremely emotional day for me. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to assume such an honourable office, important for Polish families, for Polish workers and for all those who sooner or later need or encounter the need for some kind of support, said the newly appointed Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, in her interview with journalists.

Sensitivity to the needs of others as a priority

As the Minister emphasised, for many years she has been supporting working people and has been interested in and dealing with workers' rights. She supported families who, due to some kind of violation of labour rights of members of these families, mothers, women, parents on parental leave, experienced some kind of harm.

I am looking forward to leading a ministry where sensitivity is a key emotion and a key issue. Sensitivity to the needs of others, empathy and seeing people in the system - concrete families, not ideologies, concrete workers, concrete elderly people, retired and pensioners. I am also touched because this place, as the plaques in front of the entrance, the commemorative plaques, show, is for me filled with the spirit of two figures who are very important to me and to the left-wing: firstly, the last left-wing Labour Minister preceding me, Izabela Jaruga-Nowacka; secondly, the icon of action and social sensitivity, Jacek Kuroń. That is why I started by putting flowers at the memorial plaques of Izabela Jaruga-Nowacka and Jacek Kuroń in order to continue the work that both of these figures did while holding this honourable position, emphasised the head of the Ministry of Family.

The word "labour" is returning to the name of the Ministry

Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk announced that the word "labour" had been restored to the name of the ministry by the decision of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

This is a symbolic but very important signal that I would like to send today to millions of working Poles: your work is appreciated and will be appreciated. Your efforts to build the state of welfare are valuable and deserve to be highlighted. No one should be ashamed of his or her work, work should be appreciated. I would like to take this opportunity to say that I will do my best to ensure that work in Poland is appreciated, not only in the symbolic sense but also in the real sense, and that every worker and every employee actually feels this appreciation every day when they go to work, commented Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.
