A mother of four, five or more children without the right to receive even a minimum pension? Not in Poland! Since 2019, such women can expect a parental supplementary benefit under the „Mother 4+” programme. Last year, it was used by more than 66.5 thousand persons.

„Mother 4+” is a manifestation of social solidarity. More 66 thousand persons with support in 2021

The „Mother 4+” programme is a parental supplementary benefit in the amount of a minimum pension. It is a support for those persons (primarily women) who devoted themselves to raising at least four children, by giving up their professional work or working too short to get the right to receive even a minimum pension. The programme has been in force since March 2019.

– The introduction of the parental supplementary benefit is a manifestation of social solidarity, a form of appreciation for those who, raising a larger group of children, worked hard – although not always professionally. However, their contribution to building the future of our country cannot be overestimated. „Mother 4+” is a very important programme. We could not agree to a situation where a mother of four, five or more children spends the autumn of her life without the right to receive even a minimum pension. We changed it – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.

In December 2021, 66.6 thousand parental supplementary benefits were paid in total – 65.3 thousand from the Social Insurance Institution and 1.3 thousand from the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund.

Between 1 March 2019, when the „Mother 4+” programme entered into force, and the end of 2021, the total amount of support stood at more than PLN 1.22 billion. PLN 1.18 billion is the amount of benefits paid from ZUS, and PLN 41.1 million – from KRUS.
