New deputy ministers in the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy

Iwona Michałek, Paweł Wdówik and Alina Nowak were appointed as Deputy Ministers of Family, Labour and Social Policy. The post of the Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People was taken up by Paweł Wdówik, while the post of the Government Plenipotentiary for Social and Solidarity Economy was taken up by Iwona Michałek.

Paweł Wdówik, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy and Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People

Graduate of the Centre for Blind Children in Laski and the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Warsaw. Creator of the support system for disabled people at the University of Warsaw. From 1997, head of the Office for Disabled People at the University of Warsaw.

In the years 1993–2003 – lecturer at the Academy of Special Education, in the years 2001–2010 he also worked as an editor of the Catholic Radio Józef.

Enthusiast of the U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act; for many years he has been actively working for equal rights of disabled people in Poland.

From 2010, member of the expert committee for Disabled People by the Ombudsman.

Married, father of four children.

Iwona Michałek, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy and Government Plenipotentiary for Social and Solidarity Economy

Deputy to the Polish Parliament of the 8th and 9th term. In 1981, she has graduated from environmental biology at the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, as well as finished postgraduate studies in environmental protection (1989) and management (1999). During the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, she received the title of Honorary Ambassador of this university.

She used to work as a biology and nature teacher in rural and municipal schools. For 10 years associated with the Education Office of Kujawsko-Pomorskie, in which she served, inter alia, the function of inspector, vice-curator and superintendent. She also managed the Laboratory of Management, Diagnosis and Education in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Centre for Teacher Education in Toruń. For 5 years she served as the Student Ombudsman. In 2010–2012, she managed the EU system project entitled “The key to learning – support program for teachers from Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship”. She was an educator in the field of observing student and child rights, as well as a regional coordinator for tolerance education at the Centre for Education Development in Warsaw.

On 1 July 2019, appointed by the Prime Minister as the Government Plenipotentiary for supporting the educational function of the school.

Alina Nowak, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy

Graduate of General Jerzy Ziętek Silesian School of Management in Katowice (management and marketing), University of Silesia in Katowice (postgraduate studies in administration and management), University of Warsaw (postgraduate studies in labour market law and in the field of Management and Evaluation of Projects Co-financed from European Union Funds) and the WSB University in Dąbrowa Górnicza (postgraduate managerial studies - MBA level). She has also taken a number of courses and trainings, including in the field of the labour market, support and development of people in a special situation on the labour market, and the use of public funds. She has implemented many projects, including innovative ones, regarding entrepreneurship and employment promotion.

Having started her professional career at the Social Insurance Fund, she has been working for many years within the labour market. Since 2009, she has been the Director of the Poviat Labour Office in Zabrze. From 2018, Chairwoman of the Convention of Directors of Labour Offices in the Śląskie Voivodeship.

From October 2018, member of the Śląskie Voivodeship Regional Council in the 6th term, and from 2019 also member of the Council of Public Benefit Activities of the Śląskie Voivodeship and a member of the Team of the Regional Council of Social Dialogue in Katowice for Foreigners. Additionally, since 2005 probation officer in the District Court in Zabrze.

In 2017, she was awarded the Silver Medal for Long-Term Service by the President of the Republic of Poland, while in 2019 the Primus in Agendo Honorary Badge – awarded by the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.
