“The child benefit of PLN 500 will be paid from the second quarter next year. Public consultation on the project will be held at the end of December this year,” Prime Minister Beata Szydło announced after the government meeting.

On 23 November, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Elżbieta Rafalska, presented awards and distinctions for outstanding, innovative solutions in social assistance. Awards are presented each year in connection with the Social Worker Day celebrated on 21 November. 

Stanisław Szwed, Krzysztof Michałkiewicz and Marcin Zieleniecki were appointed Deputy Ministers of Family, Labour and Social Policy. Krzysztof Michałkiewicz assumed the position of the Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People. The nominations were presented by Elżbieta Rafalska, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.

Larger family support, PLN 500 for second and subsequent child, and in the case of the poorest ones – also for the first child, lowering the retirement age – these are the main themes of exposé made by Polish Prime Minister, Beata Szydło, in the Sejm.

On 16 November 2015, the new government under the leadership of Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Beata Szydło, was sworn in at the Presidential Palace.

In March this year, the retirees and pensioners whose benefits are up to PLN 2 thousand will receive a one-time bonus of up to PLN 400. The act introducing this solution was signed on Friday, 12 February, by the President of the Republic of Poland.

‘The condition of families translates into the functioning of societies. Thus, the role of the family is invaluable. For this reason, it is important to implement such actions that effectively implement their development’ says Minister Elżbieta Rafalska. ‘And today, on 15 May, we celebrate the International Day of Families, and it is a special day for us, because the activities of the ministry I am in charge of focus on the family and on creating the best possible environment for it.

6.1% - the total unemployment rate in September. The number of the unemployed dropped by 3.3 thousand in comparison to the previous month.

– I am convinced that the findings of the Social Affairs Council can be translated into specific actions and then implemented – said Minister Marlena Maląg at the inaugural meeting of this new presidential body, appointed on 6 May. The Council has been composed of outstanding specialists representing various disciplines in the field of social sciences, inter alia: sociologists, educators, economists, political scientists and lawyers.
