Pensions will go up from 1st March

This month started exceptionally well for many persons. Since 1st March, pensions and disability benefits have increased by the statutory adjustment index, but by no more than PLN 70. ‘The lowest benefits have risen by as much as PLN 100 to PLN 1,200. In this way, we wanted to improve the situation of those who are in the most difficult situation,’ says the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

The annual adjustment of pension benefits is one of the elements ensuring the basic financial safety of citizens.

‘The change of adjustment rules is a big advantage for pensioners. From 1st March this year, the lowest retirement pensions, pensions due to total disability, survivor's pensions and social pensions increased to PLN 1,200, and pensions due to partial disability increased to PLN 900. Benefits up to PLN 1,966.29 rose by 70 PLN, and benefits exceeding this amount will rise by 3.56%,’ says the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

The statutory benefit adjustment index is the average annual index of consumer goods and services in the previous calendar year, increased by at least 20% of the real increase of average remuneration in the previous calendar year. In 2020, this index amounts to 103.56%.

In addition, the threshold of entitlement to a benefit for persons unable to live independently has also been increased. On 1st March, this threshold rose from PLN 1,600 to PLN 1,700.
