Persistent frost – let's be considerate of others

17.02.2025

While sub-zero temperatures may be little more than an inconvenience for most, they can pose a serious risk to the health and lives of others. Let's be considerate of others – if you see someone in need, such as a person sleeping at a bus stop, call 112. It's better to be safe than sorry!

Persistent frost – let's be considerate of others

Since the beginning of the winter season, i.e. from November 2024 to mid-February 2025, 14 people have died from hypothermia in Poland, according to official statistics from the Police Headquarters. These are not just numbers but real people who, for various reasons, were unable to find a safe place. These tragedies could perhaps have been avoided.

Low temperatures pose a serious threat to health and life, particularly for those experiencing homelessness, but also for anyone who, for instance, faints and does not receive timely assistance.

During prolonged cold spells, let us remain especially attentive to others. If you see someone in need – such as a person sleeping at a bus stop or exposed to harsh weather conditions – do not look away. In such cases, it is always better to act than to remain indifferent.

Notifying the relevant services can save lives.
