PLN 170 million for the development of the professional potential of persons with disabilities

The Ministry of Family and Social Policy concludes further agreements for implementing projects increasing the level and quality of employment of persons with disabilities and of persons professionally inactive due to illness.

As part of the competition announced under the Knowledge Education Development Operational Programme, PLN 170 million from the European Social Fund and the state budget has been allocated for professional activation and improvement in the labour market situation of persons with disabilities and persons professionally inactive due to illness.

In total, the Ministry referred 57 projects with the highest number of points for co-financing. So far, 13 agreements have been concluded which means that first persons with disabilities can already benefit from support. Further agreements for co-financing selected projects are concluded successively. More than 10 thousand persons with disabilities are expected to receive support.

Who can benefit from support

Project participants may be professionally inactive or active persons with disabilities aged 18 and more.

Persons with disabilities are considered to be persons under the provisions of the Act of 27 August 1997 on the vocational and social rehabilitation and employment of persons with disabilities as well as persons with mental disorders, referred to in the Act of 19 August 1994 on mental health protection, i.e. persons with an appropriate certificate or other document confirming their health status and professionally inactive due to illness, i.e. persons who, as a result of illness or accident, suffered a deterioration in their health status and for this reason lost their ability to perform their previous work, even if they do not have a disability certificate, however, they have been ill for at least 182 days within 2 years prior to starting the participation in the project.

What support will be offered under projects

  1. Comprehensive and individualised support in the process of employing persons with disabilities who remain unemployed and of persons professionally inactive due to illness, including, inter alia:
    • identification of needs and assistance in determining the career path,
    • assessment of the suitability and health of a given person concerned with regard to the selection of support and future career path,
    • complementing or acquisition of new skills or qualifications,
    • acquisition of professional experience,
    • assisted employment,
    • support for the development of entrepreneurship,
    • support for employers aimed at preparing them for employing persons with disabilities.
  2. Support for planning the career development, including the improving or complementing the skills and qualifications of persons with disabilities remaining in the labour market, with a view to improving their position in the labour market, including, inter alia:
    • identification of needs and assistance in determining the career path,
    • assessment of the suitability and health of a given person concerned with regard to the selection of support and future career path,
    • complementing or acquisition of new skills or qualifications,
    • acquisition of professional experience,
    • Support for the development of entrepreneurship.
