04.03.2021

Homes for mothers with underage children and pregnant women are facilities which provide residence and support, primarily to the mothers, but also for the fathers and other people who provide care for the children in an emergency situation. PLN 3 million will be allocated for this year’s edition of the “Pro Life” programme.

3 miliony dla maek i kobiet w ciązy

The support for the people who experience difficulties in life for various reason is exceptionally important. Mothers and women who are expecting are a group which requires particular attention and care. Homes for mothers with underage children and pregnant women are facilities where they can obtain the required help.

– On the one hand, these facilities provide 24-hour, temporary stay for mothers with underage children and pregnant women, as well as fathers with underage children and other persons providing care to children, who found themselves in an emergency situation. In addition to shelter, these facilities also provide specialist support to persons who remain there. These places are greatly needed – says Marlena Maląg, the Minister of Family and Social Policy.

Despite the fact that running such facilities is the responsibility of district local governments, the Minister of Family and Social Policy has the ability to provide financial support for local governments in that respect.

In 2021, under the implementation of measure 1.4. of the Complex support programme for families “Pro-Life”, PLN 3 million will be allocated towards the development of the network of homes for underage children and pregnant women.

The co-financing for the local governments under the state budget may amount up to 80 percent of the total implementation cost.

– In the process of analysis of the applications filed with the Ministry, we have decided to allocate these funds for the purpose of establishing five new homes for mothers with underage children and pregnant women in voivodships with the lowest number of such units – Minister Marlena Maląg explains.

New homes are going to be established in the following voivodships: wamińsko-mazurskie, wielkopolskie, podkarpackie and two homes in kujawsko-pomorskie.

A total of 65 new places will be established in these homes, providing support to persons with underage children, who are in a difficult situation and who require help.
