PLN 300 for school starter kit. The call for proposals under the “Good Start” programme begins on June 1st

The call for proposals under the “Good Start” programme begins on June 1st A subsidy of PLN 300 will be granted for a school starter kit for each child who attends school - regardless of income. - Just like in previous years, applications may be easily and quickly submitted on-line. Especially today, in the time of an epidemic, I strongly encourage you to use that method - says Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.

The beginning of the school year and the purchase of school kits, especially in large families with a great number of children, is always a big expense and a burden on the household budget. Launched in 2018, the “Good Start” programme was established as a support mechanism for parents and also to create equal educational opportunities for children.  

- The call for applications for benefits under the “Good Start” programme will start in just 2 weeks on July 1st. This is yet another programme, after “Family 500+”, which creates a comprehensive and long-term family policy of our government - indicates the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

The benefit in the amount of PLN 300 is granted for each child between 7 and 20 years of age who studies at school, and in the case of children with disabilities - up to 24 years of age. The family income is not considered. Importantly, from 2019 onwards, the benefit is also available for students attending schools for adults and post-secondary schools.

Support granted to 4.5 million school students

In 2019, the benefits under the “Good Start” was granted to 4.5 million students. Since the beginning of the programme operation, PLN 2.67 billion has already been allocated for benefits under the programme. Out of that sum, PLN 1.35 billion was allocated in 2019 alone.

- This year, we have allocated the amount of PLN 1.42 billion in the state budget for the implementation of the “Good Start” programme - says Minister Marlena Maląg.

How to apply?

Applications for the “Good Start” benefit can be submitted both by traditional means (e.g. by post) - from August 1st, and quickly and conveniently by e-mail - from July 1st.

- Especially today, during the coronavirus epidemic, I encourage you to submit the applications electronically, as it is a really simple and much faster method. That can be done by e-banking systems, the Emp@tia portal and the ZUS Electronic Services Platform - indicates the Head of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy. The call for applications will be open until the end of November.
