07.04.2022

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with the representatives of more than a hundred of the largest Polish self-governments. He thanked them for their cooperation in helping the citizens of Ukraine. The meeting was attended by Minister Marlena Maląg.

PLN 500 million for local governments to help the Ukrainians

- In accordance with our previous promise, we have already provided more than PLN 500 million to self-government officials in accordance with the established schedule and established procedure – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a meeting with the representatives of more than a hundred of the largest Polish self-governments, including the cities located near the border with Ukraine, self-government corporations and voivodes.

Mutual benefits

In the opinion of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, the inclusion of the Ukrainians in the socio-economic life in Poland will bring benefits to our economy and society. Most of them will want to return to their country in the future. However, today they need help in Poland, so it is necessary to create appropriate conditions for them to function – in the education system, health care and in the labour market.

Today, nearly 42 thousand of them have already taken up employment. As stressed by Minister Marlena Maląg, this is possible thanks to the debureaucratisation of procedures related to employment. Currently, it is enough for an employer to notify the competent labour office, within 14 days, about entrusting work to a foreigner. It is also easier to have access to information, inter alia, thanks to the pomagamukrainie.gov.pl website. It mediates between jobseekers and employers.

Together We Can Do More

The Ministry of Family and Social Policy also undertakes measures aimed at the greatest possible professional activation of people coming from Ukraine. For this purpose, we have launched a programme called „Together We Can Do More”, allocating PLN 40 million for it. We are also expanding the National Training Fund, which is at the disposal of labour offices.

The Ministry of Family takes care of children

The Ministry of Family also cooperates with self-governments in the field of accepting children arriving in Poland. For this purpose, we have created two teams: evacuation team and destination team, as well as a rest and coordination hub in Stalowa Wola.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki thanked the self-governments for their existing cooperation. As an example of efficient joint measures, he mentioned the assignment of PESEL numbers to the Ukrainians. - We have a unique opportunity to consolidate a positive opinion on our nation, our society around the world – concluded the Head of the Government.
