Polish and Ukrainian Ministries signed a declaration on the protection of children

The Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg and the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Maryna Lazebna signed the Declaration on the protection of children affected by hostilities and armed conflicts. „This is a symbolic emphasis on good cooperation between our countries for the protection of the rights of children, in particular, orphans and children deprived of parental care” – says Minister Maląg.

On Thursday, the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg and the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Maryna Lazebna met at the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. The subject of the talks were the actions of the Polish government aimed at helping citizens of Ukraine, especially children.

During the meeting, both Ministers signed a Declaration between the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Family and Social Policy of the Republic of Poland on the protection of children affected by hostilities and armed conflicts.

This declaration is a symbolic emphasis on good cooperation between our countries for the protection of the rights of children, in particular orphans and children deprived of parental care. We are responsible for their well-being and safety” – says Minister Marlena Maląg.

In the document, Poland declares to provide high-quality care to children, in particular, orphans and children deprived of parental care. Poland will seek to provide them with all information about their rights, available services and other information in the language they understand. After the end of the conflict, or when a safe and dignified return with due respect for the best interests of the child is possible, Poland will cooperate with Ukraine in this regard.

We will seek to ensure that Ukrainian children enjoying temporary protection are provided with free legal assistance concerning all procedures related to the status of temporary protection or its termination” – says Minister Marlena Maląg.

The Declaration signed on Thursday is not aimed at creating rights or responsibilities under international or national law. Nor does it involve any financial consequences for any of the parties.
