Polish citizens positively assess their situation at their workplaces

26.09.2020

Nearly two thirds of Polish citizens positively assess the current situation on the labour market in Poland, while nearly two thirds declare having a sense of employment security in their current workplace, according to the CBOS survey.

In September this year, 65% of employed Poles positively assessed the current situation in their companies, while only 9% expressed a negative assessment of their situation. In comparison to August, the ratings for the current situation in the companies have slightly increased - positive ratings have increased by 1 percentage point and negative ratings have decreased.

Forecasts for the upcoming year

How do Polish citizens rate their professional situation within the next 12 months? The majority of respondents (58%) believe that their situation will remain unchanged. Out of the remaining respondents, the majority expects improvement, while the minority expects deterioration (20% and 12% respectively).

“It is worth adding, however, that the surveyed persons who assume that there will be some changes in their professional situation over the next year generally do not expect the changes to be significant. Every tenth worker is unable to assess the situation in their workplace within the next year” – shows the report.

In comparison to the second half of August, there was an increase of 2 percentage points in the number of people expecting the situation in their workplaces to improve, and the same percentage points in the number of people expecting it to deteriorate.

Feeling threatened by unemployment

73% of respondents declare a sense of employment security, while every third (33%) considers it the loss of a current job an unlikely event (lay-offs, bankruptcies, plant closures, etc.). Only 5% of the respondents declared that they feel very strongly about losing their current job, and nearly one fifth (19%) expects such a possibility.

The Public Opinion Research Center points out that once again, there has been a further decrease in the number of employees who believe that it is unlikely for them to lose employment – down to 33%, the level last recorded in August 2017.
