Second meeting of the Working Group on Reduced Working Hours
23.07.2026
The second meeting of the Working Group on Reduced Working Hours took place at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy. The meeting brought together representatives of the public administration, the social partners, the academic community, non-governmental organisations and employers, who jointly discussed the progress of the pilot scheme 'Reduced working hours - it's happening!'.
The meeting was attended by, amongst others, representatives of the Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute (CIOP-PIB), the Institute of Labour and Social Affairs (IPiSS), employers’ organisations and trade unions, the academic community, local government bodies, and companies currently implementing or interested in implementing new models of work organisation.
During the meeting, information was presented on the current implementation of pilot projects and the results of a survey of employers and employees participating in the pilot scheme in the first quarter of 2026. Members of the Working Group also familiarised themselves with the experiences of selected project implementers, representing both the public and private sectors.
Since 1 January 2026, the second phase of the project has been underway, involving the practical testing of the reduced working hours models that have been developed.
Experience to date confirms that the projects are proceeding according to schedule. Employers taking part in the pilot scheme point to the positive effects of the solutions being implemented, including increased staff motivation and engagement, whilst also highlighting the organisational challenges involved in adapting the way work is organised to shorter working hours.
