“Security and activity”. On seniors in the Ministry of Family

The meeting held on Thursday was opened with the wishes given by the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg due to the today’s and tomorrow’s Grandmother’s Day and Grandfather’s Day.

– You show your loved ones how to navigate through live with dignity, honour and a sense of peace. From the bottom of my hear, I wish to thank you for supporting us with your strength – said Minister Marlena Maląg during the meeting.

The Head of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy stressed that the government introduces mechanisms which bring financial stability on the one hand, while on the other work in favour of the activity of the elderly – among others, through the “Senior+” programme or the new Governmental Programme “Active+” which will replace the current Government Programme for Social Participation of Senior Citizens.

The Minister also reminded that in 2015, the outlays of the previous government has amounted to just PLN 3,5 billion. In 2021, the sum will amount to PLN 35 billion – including the indexation and the issuance of the thirteenth and the fourteenth pension.

The Minister of Family Stanisław Szwed stressed that all programmes for seniors will be continued, and the total outlays for the “Senior+” and the “Active+” programmes (the continuation of the Government Programme for Social Participation of Senior Citizens) will amount to PLN 500 million between 2021-2025.

Safety during the pandemic

Minister Marlena Maląg also reminded about the Solidarity Assistance Corps for the Seniors. Seniors can ask for assistance via the helpline available at 22 505 11 11. Digital volunteers, among others, remain at service to help to register for vaccinations. That was also pointed out by the secretary of state Adam Anuszkiewicz at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland who was at the meeting.

Piotr Mazurek, the secretary of state in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Government Plenipotentiary for Youth Policy informed that an increasing number, i.e. 275 youth communities are involved in assistance within the Solidarity Assistance Corps for the Seniors.
