Seniors and Poland’s future

07.11.2022

The 8th reporting and election session of the Civic Seniors’ Parliament took place in the building of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. It was attended by Minister Marlena Maląg.

Seniors and Poland’s future

At present, there are over 420 municipal senior councils in Poland. This means that elderly people are more and more socially active and more aware of their rights.

Every fourth Pole is a senior

– As the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, as the United Right government, we have always been attaching great importance to the senior policy, to activities aimed at improving the situation of the elderly in Poland – said Minister Maląg.

“In order to increase the effectiveness of the implementation of the senior policy at the voivodeship level, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, we have decided to appoint voivodeship governors’ plenipotentiaries for seniors. Today, every fourth Pole is aged 60+. This is a large group that required particular attention” – emphasized the minister, addressing the participants of the session.

We want to take advantage of the experience of the elderly

Minister Maląg reminded about the support provided to seniors, including the next year’s increase in old-age pensions and disability pensions by at least PLN 250, next year’s record indexation for a total of almost PLN 42 billion, and the 13th and 14th pension paid this year. These are also activation programs “Senior+” and “Active+”. In 2021-2025, we will spend a total of half a billion zlotys on these two programmes.

“We do not forget either about the oldest Poles, less independent, those who require care. With the Care 75+ programme, we facilitate their access to care services. It is also support in everyday life thanks to the Senior Support Corps, launched during the pandemic, but operating also this year” – said the Minister.
