In January, the registered unemployment rate reached 5.6% – as it results from the preliminary data of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. This is by 0.2% more than a month ago, but by 0.9% less than a year ago.

According to the preliminary data, in January 2022, 927.8 thousand unemployed people were registered with labour offices. The registers of labour offices included 32.5 thousand more persons than in December 2021, which means an increase – month by month – by 3.6%.

Growth dynamics has been the lowest in several years

It is worth noting that the growth rate of unemployment at the end of January in relation to the previous month has been the lowest in several years.

At the end of January 2022, the registers of the unemployed included 162.6 thousand (i.e. by 14.9%) fewer unemployed persons than at the end of January 2021.

In January, registered unemployment was 5.6%. This means that the unemployment rate, when compared to the previous month, increased by 0.2%, but in comparison with the end of January 2021 it was lower by 0.9%.

The situation was the best in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, where unemployment amounted to 3.2%. The highest unemployment rate was recorded in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship (9.1%).
