Slight increase in unemployment in November, Poland still among the EU leaders

According to the estimates of the Ministry of Labour, the registered unemployment rate in Poland in November 2025 reached 5.7 per cent, slightly higher than in the previous month. Meanwhile, Eurostat indicates that Poland is still among the top countries of the European Union with the lowest level of unemployment. We were only overtaken by Malta.

At the end of November this year, the registered unemployment rate in Poland reached 5.7 per cent - as the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy estimates. In this period, 875.3 thousand unemployed people were registered with the labour offices.

This is, respectively, 0.1 pp and 7.9 thousand people more than in the previous month and 0.7 pp and 100.8 thousand people more than in November 2024.

The registered unemployment rate at the end of November 2025 ranged from 3.5 % in the Wielkopolskie Voivodship to 9.1 % in the Podkarpackie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodships.

November is usually the month when the number of the unemployed increases. It is noteworthy, however, that the rise in November this year was lower than a year ago, when the unemployment level increased by almost 9 thousand people.

Poland second in the EU with the lowest unemployment

Poland remains among the countries with the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union. In October 2025, the unemployment rate in Poland calculated in accordance with the Eurostat definition, reached 3.2 % (the same level as the month before and 0.4 percentage points higher than in October 2024.

Malta ranked first in terms of the lowest unemployment rate in the EU (3.1 %), followed by Poland and the Czech Republic (3.2 % each). Spain recorded the highest unemployment rate (10.5%). At that time, the EU average was 6% and 6.4% in the euro area.
