The support will be implemented as part of the “Government Assistance Programme for Students with Disabilities Granted as Co-Financing the Purchase of Textbooks, Educational Materials and Exercise Materials in the Years 2020-2022". The primary objective of the programme is to equalize and increase educational opportunities for students with disabilities and to improve the quality of their education.

Who is eligible to obtain the funding?

The programme will cover student with visual impairments, deafness and hearing impairments, motor disabilities (including aphasia), autism (including Asperger's syndrome), with mild, moderate or severe intellectual disabilities, as well as students with coexisting disabilities (in the event of disabilities included in the aforementioned list), who hold a certificate of need for special education.

What is the amount of support?

The subsidy for the purchase of textbooks and educational and training materials for one student will amount up to PLN 225, 390 or 445 PLN respectively. The amount of support will depend on the type and degree of disability and the type of school attended by a student with disability.

How many students will use the benefit?

Between 2020 and 2022 over 131.5 thousand students will receive support. In the school year 2020/21 - over 45 thousand children, a year later - 45.5 thousand, and in the school year 2022/23 - nearly 41 thousand students.

In total, PLN 54 million was allocated for the implementation of the programme from the special purpose reserve of the state budget - PLN 18 million annually. Importantly, the amount may be increased if the number of children eligible to obtain the support increases.

The programme is coordinated by the Minister of National Education.
