At the end of January 2026, 934,800 unemployed people were registered by labour offices, according to preliminary estimates by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy. Compared to the previous month, the number of reported vacancies and job activations increased.

According to preliminary data, the number of unemployed people registered by labour offices at the end of January 2026 was 934,800 and the registered unemployment rate was 6 per cent.

The growth rate of unemployment in January this year compared to the end of December 2025 was lower than that recorded in the same month in 2023-2025. The number of unemployed increased by 5.6 per cent in January 2023, by 6.2 per cent in January 2024 and by 6.5 per cent in January 2025, compared to an increase of 5.3 per cent in January this year.

According to preliminary data, over this period, employers reported 25.4 thousand job vacancies and occupational activation places to labour offices, i.e. 4.7 thousand (22.4 per cent) more than in December 2025.

Labour market in Poland according to Eurostat

Poland remains among the countries with the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union. In December 2025, the Czech Republic ranked first (3.1 per cent), followed by Poland and Malta (3.2 per cent each).

The highest unemployment rates were recorded in Finland (10.2 per cent), Spain (10 per cent) and Sweden (9 per cent).

At that time, the EU average was 5.9% and the eurozone average 6.2%.
