Two years of the Mother 4+ programme

01.03.2021

The parental supplementary benefit is a huge support for the beneficiaries, primarily women, who have devoted themselves to bringing up four or more children and, as a result, have been able to meet the requirements of receiving even the minimum pension. Exactly two years ago, the “Mother 4+” programme was launched to introduce this benefit.

There is no doubt that raising four, five or more children is a great challenge and difficulty, while bringing an enormous value for society as a whole.

– Until recently, parents and, above all, women, who gave up their jobs to look after their children, were left to their own devices. This changed on 1 March 2019, when the “Mother 4+” programme introducing a parental supplementary benefit came into force – says Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

The total amount of the parental supplementary benefit

If the beneficiary is already receiving a benefit lower than the lowest pension, the parental benefit supplements the benefit received up to the amount of the lowest pension (i.e. PLN 1250.88 as at 1 March 2021). However, if a person has no right to any benefit, the amount of the parental benefit supplementary to that amount shall be equal to that amount.

The benefit is distributed to 61.1 thousand people Between 2019-2021, PLN 2.4 million was allocated for the implementation of the programme.
