09.01.2026
The registered unemployment rate in Poland at the end of December 2025 was 5.7 per cent, with 888,6 people then unemployed, according to estimates from the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy.
Preliminary figures from the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy indicate that at the end of 2025, the registered unemployment rate in Poland will be 5.7 per cent. - by 0.1 percentage points more than a month ago.
At that time, unemployment ranged from 3.6 per cent in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship to 9.2 per cent in the Podkarpackie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeships.
According to preliminary data, at the end of December 2025, there were 888.6 thousand unemployed people registered in labour offices - 15 thousand more than at the end of the previous month.
December is usually the month when the number of the unemployed increases. The increase in unemployment may be the result of a weakening in recruitment activity by companies, as evidenced by a decrease in the number of job offers available on the market. As in previous years, the number of job offers reported to job centres in December 2025 fell, which may be related to the seasonality of work in certain sectors.
Poland is doing well compared to the EU
How does Poland compare with other EU countries? At least well. Poland remains among the countries with the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union. According to Eurostat, in November 2025, Malta ranked first (3.1 per cent), followed by Poland and the Czech Republic (3.2 per cent each). The highest unemployment rate (10.4 per cent) was recorded in Spain.
In April 2025, the average unemployment rate in the European Union was 6% and in the euro area – 6.3%
