“Young People on the Labour Market” conference

24.11.2022

Young people from all over the country gathered in Warsaw at a conference dedicated to the situation on the labour market in Poland. Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy, took part in the discussion.

Konferencja „Osoby młode na rynku pracy”

I had the pleasure to participate in a unique meeting. Discussing with young people and listening to what they are saying is a very valuable experience. It is important that young people set themselves goals and do not be discouraged by failures. Currently, we have the 4th lowest rate of unemployment among young people in Europe and we strive to keep it as low as possible – reminded Minister Marlena Maląg.

More than one hundred participants attended the conference in Warsaw. Young people had the opportunity to talk about their expectations regarding professional work and tools that can support them in their professional development. They could ask Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy, about the opportunities offered by the Polish labour market.

We want to create adequate conditions for young people entering the labour market. Among other things, we will implement the +Guarantee for the Young programme. So far, the programme has covered about 5 million people. The project is to be a broad coalition for action for young people. There will also be amendments to the law. We are working on three large projects, among others, amendments to the Act on Vocational Activation – indicated Minister Marlena Maląg.

As for the tools that make it easier for young people to start their professional career, those who took part in the meeting listed, among others, zero PIT. The wage tax exemption is available to people under 26 years of age.

Minister Marlena Maląg reminded that the favourable situation on the labour market in Poland is due, among others, to powerful state intervention in the form of an anti-crisis shield or a financial shield. With these tools, about PLN 250 billion has been transferred to companies in Poland to save nearly 8 million jobs.

Currently, the unemployment rate in Poland is 5.1 percent. The number of job seekers is decreasing month by month. At the end of October, 797.5 thousand unemployed people were registered in labour offices. Fewer unemployed people were recorded in July 1990 (699 thousand).
