At the European Economic Forum – Łódzkie 2022, Deputy Minister Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak and Marshal Grzegorz Schreiber opened the debate on a new regional programme for the Łódzkie voivodeship.

‘Thanks to the effective cooperation between the national government and the local government, all the regional programmes for the financial perspective 2021-2027 have been adopted. The budget for these programmes amounts to EUR 33.5 billion, which is a gigantic financial boost supporting investments in Polish regions’,

Deputy Minister for Development Funds and Regional Policy Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak said.

’Most of the money, i.e. around EUR 8.4 billion, will go towards funding environmental and decarbonisation investments. Further EUR 8 billion will go towards activities focusing on social inclusion and support for the most deprived social groups. Another EUR 2.7 billion will be assigned to related infrastructural investments. We will allocate EUR 3.5 billion for direct support to entrepreneurs and innovation in the economy. EUR 3.7 billion will support transport projects under regional programmes.

How much for Łódzkie?

A record EUR 2,745 million will go to the Łódzkie region as part of the regional programme. ‘This is almost half a billion euros more than in the previous programming period’,

Deputy Minister Jarosińska-Jedynak said.

‘The amount consists of more than 1.7 billion euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to go towards “hard” measures, i.e. investments in transport, health and cultural infrastructure and support for enterprises.

Approximately 660 million euros from the European Social Fund (ESF) Plus under the European Regional Development Fund will be available to the local government will be able to use for “soft” measures such as social support or employee training among other things.

The Just Transition Fund (JTF) to be used by the Bełchatów region is a new feature. It provides about 370 million euros for mitigating the transition towards a climate-neutral economy’,

the Deputy Minister added.

Five voivodeships will have JTF money in their budgets for the 2021-2027 regional programmes: Śląskie, Małopolskie, Wielkopolskie, Dolnośląskie and Łódzkie.

How is Łódzkie using EU funds in the current perspective?

The region had EUR 1.62 billion from the ERDF, more than EUR 634 million from the JTF and more than EUR 31 million from REACT-EU at its disposal in the 2014-2020 period. In total, this is approximately EUR 2.29 billion and more than PLN 8.5 thousand per resident of the voivodeship. This amount gives the region the eighth place in respect of per capita EU support.
