First NRP funds already in Poland

28.12.2023

- Poland has just received EUR 5 billion from the RePowerEU programme, which is part of the NRP. The funds will be invested in low-cost green energy for Polish citizens, the Minister for Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz announced.

First NRP funds already in Poland

We will allocate these funds to green investments in low-cost, green energy in various areas. For instance, as investments in RES or in zero-emission transport, but also in energy networks, especially in rural and small urban areas. Thanks to this, citizens who wish to have heat pumps or photovoltaic installations, meaning those who want to put the idea of democratic energy into practice, will be able to connect to modernised energy networks without any obstacles

- said Minister for Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.

Revision of the NRP

In March this year, Poland applied for additional loan funds under the NRP revision, included under the RePowerEU programme. In August this year, the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy made a formal request for a revision of the NRP.

At the end of November this year, the European Commission gave a positive opinion on the Polish proposals for a revised NRP and a new chapter of REPowerEU. On 8 December of this year, the ECOFIN Council, i.e. the finance ministers from all EU Member States, formally approved the revision of the Polish NRP. Subsequently, amended agreements for the grant and loan parts were signed bilaterally - by Poland and the EC. This made it possible to transfer the advance due to Poland.

Nearly EUR 60 billion from the NRP

NRP is a programme from which Poland is to receive €59.82 billion (PLN 261.4 billion), including €25.28 billion (PLN 110.4 billion) in grants and €34.5 billion (PLN 151 billion) in preferential loans.
The majority of these funds will be invested in the form of financial instruments, enabling projects to be implemented beyond 2026, even for the next 30 years.
