As the organiser of the next session of the World Urban Forum, we needed to create a law that would facilitate preparations for this prestigious event. The President's signature has completed the document's procedure. We are continuing intensive work on the organisation of WUF11

- said Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak, government plenipotentiary for the organisation of the World Urban Forum in Katowice, Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy.

WUF 11 will take place in Katowice between 26 and 30 June 2022. The event takes place every two years and is one of the largest events organised by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme UN-Habitat in terms of number of participants. The main objective of the Forum is to promote a new concept of urban development and human settlements. The conference has become one of the most recognisable international meetings dedicated to the exchange of views and experiences on urban challenges, the development of cities and human settlements, their planning, design, financing and management. The event will be accompanied by the slogan: "We change our cities for a better future".

The law defines the tasks of public administration bodies and services with regard to the organisation of WUF11 and specific rules for awarding and implementing contracts related to the organisation of the event. Among other things, the document contains the principles of financing the organisation of the Forum. The Act also defines the tasks concerning the assurance of security and public order in the organisation of an international event.

The Act will enter into force 14 days after the date of its publication. The termination date of the Act is set for 31 December 2022.
