Modern scientific education in Podkarpacie thanks to European Funds
22.07.2022
The world of science and technology, interesting experiments, modern technologies, education combined with fun - all this will soon be waiting for families at the Podkarpackie Centrum Nauki „Łukasiewicz” (Subcarpathian Science Center "Lukasiewicz".) The facility is being built with the support of EU funds. The implementation of the project was discussed at a meeting of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship Board. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy, Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak.
The Podkarpackie Centrum Nauki „Łukasiewicz” is one of the most anticipated investments in the region. The facility is intended to be a subcarpathian "Copernicus" and present science-related issues in a modern and innovative way. The facility will encourage creative experimentation and the discovery of scientific curiosities,
said the Deputy Minister, Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak.
In addition to the exhibition area, the Center will house a set of laboratories and educational studios, where classes related to constructing and building devices, as well as modeling and DIY will be held.
Active participation in demonstrations and thematic workshops will translate into the development of practical skills for children and young people. The facility will become an important educational resource in the region, supporting the school system. It will reduce social exclusion related to access to learning and modern methods of acquiring knowledge while maintaining intergenerational integration.
The Podkarpackie Centrum Nauki „Łukasiewicz” will be a place for shaping future career preferences, discovering talents and interests. The center will popularize science related to, among other things, the voivodeship's smart specializations, namely aviation, aerospace, information technology and quality of life in the broadest sense.
The center was located near Rzeszów in Tajęcina in the vicinity of the Airport and the Exhibition and Convention Center in Jasionka. The investment received funding from the Regional Operational Program of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship in the amount of PLN 76 million.
Learning centers are an increasingly popular form of education for understanding the world around us. Six major science centers in Poland have already been co-financed with money from the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Programs (ROP),
the Deputy Minister explained.
In addition to the Podkarpackie Centrum Nauki „Łukasiewicz,” the largest funding from the ROP for 2014-2020 was given to the following projects: Epi-Center of Science in Białystok, the Małopolska Science Center in Kraków, the Planetarium - Silesian Science Park in Chorzów and the Center for Popularization of Science and Innovation of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, as well as the Maritime Science Center in Szczecin.
In addition, several smaller projects for local science centers and mobile learning labs are underway in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Wielkopolskie and Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeships.
