More than PLN 31 billion for investments from the first request for payment under the NRP

22.12.2023

High-speed internet access, thermal modernisation of multi-family buildings and subsidising new childcare facilities for children up to the age of three are some of the investments on which the funds from the first NRP request will be spent. These funds will benefit everyone in our country.

More than PLN 31 billion for investments from the first request for payment under the NRP

We have already sent the first request for payment under the NRP to the European Commission. We will now do our utmost to ensure that the citizens of our country can benefit from these funds as soon as possible. This is over PLN 31 billion, which will benefit the development of the entirety of Poland

- said Minister for Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.

Thanks to NRP funding, nearly one million households will receive high-speed internet access. We will also provide 47,000 new care places in crèches and children's clubs. We will also subsidise the thermal modernisation of 115,000 flats in multi-family houses in cities and towns across the country

- added the head of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy.

Funds from the first NRP request will also be used for, among other things, legal facilities for companies, increased innovation and digitisation of businesses, enhanced road safety or the development of social economy entities.

 Period for investments

Poland submitted its first payment request to the European Commission. Its value is EUR 6.9 billion (over PLN 31 billion), including almost EUR 2.8 billion (PLN 12.4 billion) from the grant part and almost EUR 4.2 billion (PLN 18.7 billion) from the loan part.

The European Commission now has approximately 2.5 months to assess the submitted request. Meanwhile, the process of evaluation by the Commission's committees will take approximately one month. Disbursement of the first payment request is expected in April 2024.

Next year, we plan to submit two more requests for NRP funds in each of the two slots. This means that the second and third requests will be submitted in the first half of 2024 and the fourth and fifth in the second half.

Nearly EUR 60 billion for investments

NRP is a programme from which Poland is to receive €59.8 billion (PLN 268 billion), including €25.3 billion (PLN 113.3 billion) in grants and €34.5 billion (PLN 154.8 billion) in preferential loans. The majority of these funds will be invested in the form of financial instruments, enabling projects to be implemented beyond 2026, even for the next 30 years.
