Poland has received almost PLN 31 billion from the NRP

02.06.2026

We will invest the funds from the 6th and 7th payment request under the NRP, which has been received by Poland today, primarily in the modernisation of energy infrastructure, the purchase of ecological buses, digital transformation, as well as healthcare and defence.

The NRP is the most important development project of the decade, enabling us to carry out numerous projects significant for civilisation development. We will allocate almost PLN 31 billion that the European Commission paid out to Poland as part of the next tranche from the National Recovery Plan to strategic investment that will strengthen the competitiveness and resilience of the Polish economy.

Besides major investments, the changes funded from the NRP will also be visible at a local level – in small and medium-sized companies and amongst the public.

We are developing Poland with the NRP

We will use almost 31 billion zlotys from the NRP to fund, among others, further replacement of heating systems in buildings and investment in water and wastewater management in rural areas. We will also invest in the development of modern digital services, the modernisation of medical infrastructure, the purchase of zero- and low-emission buses, and the modernisation of railway lines. We will support the development of electricity transmission and distribution networks, including the faster and safer connection of new renewable energy sources.

Owing to the NRP, we will also invest in projects under the Security and Defence Fund: the modernisation of industry, civil defence infrastructure (shelters, protection of water supply networks, etc.), cybersecurity, and the roads and railways essential for military mobility. The first calls for proposals from the Fund are scheduled in the middle of the year. The support will be available primarily to Polish enterprises, as well as local authorities.

Long-term effects

The total budget for the NRP amounts to approximately 240 billion zlotys. Of this amount, we have disbursed PLN 73.6 billion for completed and ongoing/implemented investment projects. This year, we will invest a further amount of over PLN 136 billion – of which over PLN 46 billion will be allocated for projects due to be completed in 2026, and PLN 90 billion for mechanisms that will finance the development of the Polish economy over the next decade.

Due to support from the NRP:

  • almost 20,000 new places have already been created in nurseries and children’s clubs
  • 200,000 homes, libraries and community centres have been insulated
  • high-speed internet has been provided to 211,000 households
  • 11 bypasses have been built around small and medium-sized towns
  • 1,000 social economy organisations have received funding for modernisation
  • 288 trains and locomotives and 835 buses have been purchased
  • 120 Sector-Specific Skills Centres have been launched
  • as part of the MikroGlob programme, we will provide funding for the construction of four Polish satellites
  • we have commissioned 212 km of railway lines
  • the Security and Defence Fund was established with a budget of approximately 23 billion zlotys.

We are speeding up on the final stretch

Despite a two-year delay in the implementation of the NRP, we are at a very advanced stage in the implementation of this great development project transforming the overall Poland. This is the result of a joint effort by entrepreneurs, local authorities and the public sector. Due to it, we are implementing reforms as well as preparing and funding further projects. We are currently in the middle of the pack (61 per cent) in terms of indicators confirmed and settled with the European Commission; the EU average is 57.1 per cent.

Still this year, we will submit the final two payment requests under the NRP, for the total amount of over 22 billion euros, i.e. approximately 100 billion zlotys.
