We need a strong link between science and business. The idea is that new technologies should be created in Poland - as quickly and as numerous as possible. The project launched today that will run until 2029, is designed to support this process. Twenty-six consortia will take part in the project. Its aim is to support groups of cooperation between research centres and companies so that the technologies or inventions they create achieve the commercialisation stage

- the Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz said.

The Science4Business project - Science for Business” is a strategic initiative aimed at increasing the effectiveness of science-business cooperation, including the commercialisation of research results. As the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, we play a leading role in the project, so the activities will be carried out as part of three tasks in a broad partnership of scientific and research institutions from all over Poland. The signing of today's Memorandum of Understanding represents a major step towards even closer and more comprehensive cooperation between the scientific and business communities. This is the direction we want to follow in order to be able to exploit the full capacity of our science

- the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Marcin Kulasek emphasised.

Science for Business

The main objective of the project is to increase the effectiveness of the activities of Technology Transfer Centres and Special Purpose Vehicles belonging to research organisations in terms of cooperation with business, including through the commercialisation of R&D results.

The scope of the project is to support the activities of research organisations that will lead to the successful implementation of the solutions developed in the economy. It also provides for measures to improve the skills of the staff involved in the commercialisation of research results.

As part of the project we envisage the following activities:

  • creating a map of the best research organisations,
  • preparing new technological offers and marketing them more effectively,
  • funding of pre-implementation work for new technologies.

In addition, a Portal will be created to provide the technological, service and infrastructural offer of all research entities in Poland, addressed to entrepreneurs.

The “Science4Business - Science for Business” project will receive the support of almost PLN 300 million from the FENG. It will be implemented by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in cooperation with 88 partners gathered in 26 consortia.

No innovation without science

The European Funds for a Modern Economy programme is one of the key national programmes supporting the implementation of R&D and innovation projects and the development of science. Its aim is to strengthen the cooperation between the scientific and business sectors, allowing the implementation of modern technologies and knowledge transfer, contributing to the enhancement of competitiveness of the Polish economy.

To date, we have signed nearly 1000 grant agreements under the FENG programme for more than PLN 12.7 billion. We have already allocated more than PLN 1.2 billion to support science.
