Poland in Greece

In the spring atmosphere, Sinfonia Varsovia and Rafał Blechacz played in Athens on April 1, and a Penderecki's tree grows in the Megaro Mousikis Garden.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs has launched a contest for the best foreign-language publication promoting Poland’s history and the best Polish-language publication on the history of Polish diplomacy released in 2022. Authors are invited to submit their books by 1 June 2023.

Works by Fryderyk Chopin and Krzysztof Penderecki are included in the program of Rafał Blechacz's concert with the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra, on April 1 at Megaro Mousikis in Athens.

On March 7, at the Goethe Institute of Athens an event "Stand with Ukraine" was organised which included the screening of NID's film "Erase the Nation" by Tomasz Grzywaczewski and "Larysa Kadochnykova. The War” by Dimitrij Tomaszpolski. The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine and the Embassy of Germany.

Secretary of State for European Policy and Government Plenipotentiary for compensation for damage caused by German aggression and occupation in 1939-1945, Arkadiusz Mularczyk, visited Athens on February 15, 2023. The purpose of the visit was to hold political consultations at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to inform the Greek side about actions taken by Poland in context of the efforts to obtain war reparations from Germany and to exchange opinions on possible joint actions with Greece in this field.

The exhibition entitled "Philhellenism and Polish Research in Prehistoric and Classical Archaeology in Greece" was opened at the Cast Museum of the Department of Archaeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, on 8 of February.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland took part in the 37th edition of the International Tourism Exhibition Philoxenia in Thessaloniki, held on November 18-20, 2022.

On 11 November 1918 Poland regained its independence. This event occurred 123 years after the First Polish Republic had ceased to exist, a result of an arrangement between three powers, i.e, Russia, Prussia and Austria. During that time although Poland disappeared from the map of Europe, it never ceased to exist in the hearts of Poles.
