03.06.2025

To mark World Bicycle Day, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi, in partnership with the Delhi Cyclists Club, hosted its first-ever Delhi Bike Rally.

Starting the event, Chargé d’Affaires Piotr Świtalski reminded everyone that World Bicycle Day was established by a UN General Assembly resolution, thanks to the efforts of Polish professor Leszek Sibilski. He highlighted how it’s a perfect occasion to celebrate community and values of sustainability.

The Bike Rally brought together over 70 cyclists, including the Ambassadors of Georgia and Lithuania, as well as diplomats from the USA, Norway, Germany, Finland, Japan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Bhutan. Members of the Delhi Cyclists Club and representatives of the local Polish community also joined the ride. The Polish Embassy was represented by 16 people.

The route took riders through iconic city sights: starting with the leafy avenues of Chanakyapuri, home to the Polish Embassy, along the majestic India Gate, passing the Copernicus Marg - a street named in honour of the Polish astronomer - and ending at the Ambassador’s Residence on Tilak Marg. After the ride, all participants were invited for Polish breakfast specialties, which, along with hot coffee, made for the perfect ending to an active morning.

The Embassy of Poland in New Delhi extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined and made the event so special. We’re already looking forward to seeing everyone at the next edition!
