Poland in India

The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in India, with residence in New Delhi, is accredited to the Republic of Maldives.

In July 2018, on the sidelines of the FAC meeting in Brussels, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Jacek Czaputowicz met with the Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture of the Maldives Mohamed Shainee. In November 2011, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland J. Pomianowski paid a visit to Maldives as the representative of the EU at the 17th SAARC summit.

The number of tourists from Poland is growing, accounting for 1.8% of the total number of tourists in the period January-June 2024, and thus ranking 10th as a country of origin of foreign tourists.

Bilateral trade in 2024 amounted to over EUR 9.3 million, including exports from Poland of over EUR 8.7 million and imports from Maldives of over EUR 606,000. The largest share of exports was taken up by non-alcoholic beverages (35.8% of total exports), electrical machinery and equipment (13.0%), mechanical machinery and equipment (6.6%), as well as furniture, bedding, and mattresses (6.5%). Imports were dominated by fish, crustaceans, and mollusks (81.3% of total imports from the Maldives), meat, fish, crustacean, or mollusk products (12.6%), and optical, photographic, measuring, and medical instruments and apparatus (3.9%).
