On 29 March 2025, a family picnic was held in the Residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi to mark Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event featured a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere with live jazz music performed by the band Shantha & Amar.

The picnic brought together around 300 guests, including children. With families in mind, a variety of activities for children were offered: from puppet-making workshops and painting to table tennis and other games. The event was also an opportunity to sample traditional Polish dishes and delicacies, such as cold beet soup (chłodnik), beet kvass, grilled sausages, and fermented cabbage.

In his speech, Mr. Piotr Świtalski, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Republic of Poland in India, highlighted the essence of European values that follow the European anthem — hope, joy, and brotherhood — reminding the visitors of the spirit that unites the continent, especially in the face of current threats to the unity, peace and democracy.

The picnic by the Polish Embassy in New Delhi in partnership with the Polish Institute was the first in a series of events aimed at promoting the European Union and EU-India cooperation. The programme of events will culminate with the "Europe Day" celebration on May 9, 2025.
