National Reading 2

On Saturday, September 16, National Reading event took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi - an annual celebration of reading and Polish literature. Fragments of this year's selection of "Nad Niemnem" by Eliza Orzeszkowa were read together by members of the Polish community in India, students of the University of Delhi, who are learning Polish under the supervision of prof. Tatiana Szurlej, and the representatives of the Embassy and the Institute. "Nad Niemnem" is one of the most important pieces of Polish literature, broaching the subject of the January Uprising, the 160th anniversary of which is celebrated in 2023.

The National Reading project was initiated in 2012 with a joint reading of "Pan Tadeusz" by Adam Mickiewicz. Fragments of selected Polish books are being read both in Poland and abroad.
