Poland's Support for Tax Administration in Bhutan and Constitution Day Reception in Thimphu

From 29 April to 4 May, Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi, Dr. Piotr Antoni Świtalski, visited Bhutan for a series of engagements aimed at strengthening Polish-Bhutanese cooperation.
A central element of the visit was the concluding conference of the Tax Inspectors Without Borders project, held on 30 April. The initiative was implemented by the Polish Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with UNDP Bhutan, for Bhutan’s Department of Revenue and Customs. The conference provided an opportunity to review the results of the project and highlight the contribution of Polish experts to strengthening capacity in tax administration and public governance. The project reflects Poland’s commitment to sharing expertise and supporting institutional development in partner countries.
On 1 May, Dr. Świtalski met with Bhutan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, D. N. Dhungyel, to discuss opportunities for further developing friendly relations and practical cooperation between Poland and Bhutan.
The visit also included a reception in Thimphu on 3 May, organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland together with the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Bhutan to mark Poland’s Constitution Day. Hosted by Honorary Consul Wangdi Jamyang, the event brought together diplomats, government officials, artists and members of the international community.
A highlight of the evening was a performance by Polish vocalist Michał Rudaś, who sang two songs in Dzongkha, including “Pindarikaa” from the Bhutanese film of the same name. The programme also featured “Mazurek Trzeciego Maja”, one of Poland’s best-known patriotic songs, creating a symbolic musical link between Polish and Bhutanese traditions.
The visit combined practical cooperation, political dialogue and cultural diplomacy, underlining the growing scope of relations between Poland and Bhutan.
