03.06.2026
On 3 June 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi, together with the Delhi Cyclists Club, hosted the second edition of the Delhi Bike Rally to mark World Bicycle Day.
The event brought together around 80 cycling enthusiasts, including members of the diplomatic community from the embassies of Georgia, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the United States, and Canada, as well as representatives of the local Polish community and friends of the Embassy.
Opening the rally, Head of Mission Dr. Piotr Antoni Świtalski recalled that World Bicycle Day was established by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly thanks to the efforts of Polish professor Leszek Sibilski. He underlined that the day is a meaningful opportunity to promote cycling as a simple, accessible, and environmentally friendly means of transport.
Participants set off from the leafy avenues of Chanakyapuri, home to the Polish Embassy, and rode 20 km through some of New Delhi’s most iconic locations, including India Gate. The rally concluded at the Ambassador’s Residence on Tilak Marg, where guests were welcomed with Polish breakfast specialties and hot coffee.
The Embassy of Poland in New Delhi warmly thanks all participants, partners, and friends who joined the second edition of the Delhi Bike Rally and helped make it such a memorable celebration of World Bicycle Day. See you at the next one!
