Art as an Intercultural Bridge. Poland and Ghana at Malta Biennale 2026
27.02.2026
Alongside the Polish National Pavilion at Malta Art Biennale 2026, the thematic pavilion of OmenaArt Foundation, Redefining. Polish-Ghanaian Textile Narratives, will also be presented.
From 11 March to 29 May 2026, the exhibition will be on view at the Old Armoury of the Knights of Malta in Birgu.
Curated by Natalia Bradbury, the exhibition features large-scale textile installations created by Marta Nadolle, Eliza Proszczuk, and Ernestina Mansa Doku as part of an artistic residency in Malta. The artists from Poland and Ghana intertwine the historical narratives of both countries, drawing on weaving traditions and the island’s local heritage.
The project refers to the philosophy of Ubuntu “I am because we are” emphasising interdependence, community, and mutual respect. The exhibition will be accompanied by a premiere sound installation by Mariusz Szypura, as well as a programme of debates and meetings with international experts.
The exhibition responds to the theme of Malta Biennale 2026 CLEAN | CLEAR | CUT offering a reflection on intercultural relations across past, present, and future perspectives.
