29.09.2025
EUNIC is the European network of cultural institutes and embassies engaged in cultural relations, implementing joint projects in over 100 countries around the world through 136 clusters.
The EUNIC Malta Cluster was launched in July 2021. Its mission is to support the Sustainable Development Goals and promote the diversity of European cultures and shared values through the organization of joint events and projects. One such event is the annual EUNIC European Film Festival.
This year marked the fifth edition of the festival, which took place from 23 to 28 September. Over six days, eleven film screenings were presented, celebrating diversity in all its forms.
The event brought together eleven members and partners, including the embassies of the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, France, and Spain, as well as the Alliance Française, Arts Council Malta, the European Commission Representation, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, and the High Commission of Australia.
The Embassy of Poland presented the film "Bread and Salt" directed by Damian Kocur. The film tells the story of a young pianist who returns to his hometown and witnesses a growing conflict between local youths and the employees of a kebab shop. The story highlights the dramatic consequences of social tensions in a small community.
