27.03.2026
The Minister of Sport and Tourism, in consultation with the Minister of Finance and Economy, has found that, in connection with the outbreak of military actions in some Middle East countries, unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances have occurred, within the meaning of the Act on Package Travel.
This applies to the following countries:
- Saudi Arabia,
- Bahrain,
- Iran,
- Israel,
- Jordan,
- Qatar,
- Kuwait,
- Lebanon,
- Oman,
- Palestine, and
- United Arab Emirates.
In view of the above, the Minister of Sport and Tourism announces that the above-mentioned circumstances provide grounds for the release of funds from the Tourist Aid Fund to reimburse travellers for package travel that has not taken place or will not take place due to the occurrence of the unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances in the region.
The release of funds from the Tourist Aid Fund is intended to cover refunds to travellers for payments made by them for a package travel contract for a trip which has not taken place or will not take place but was due to start between 28 March 2026 and 27 April 2026 and the package travel contract for which was concluded before or on 28 February 2026.
Notification by the traveller of their withdrawal from the package travel contract, or notification by the tour operator of the termination of the package travel contract for a trip to take place in the territory of any of the above-mentioned countries or a trip to include a transfer or stopover in this territory, constituting grounds for reimbursement from the Tourist Aid Fund, may be made between 28 February 2026 and 27 April 2026 inclusive.
Applications for reimbursement from the Tourist Aid Fund may be submitted by travellers and tour operators to the Insurance Guarantee Fund no later than 14 days from the notification by the traveller of their withdrawal from the package travel contract, or notification by the tour operator of the termination of the package travel contract for a trip to take place in the territory of any of the above-mentioned countries or a trip to include a transfer or stopover in this territory.
