In connection with the entry into force on 20 May 2026 of the EU's STR Regulation relating to short-term accommodation rental, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism presents its position on the application of the new provisions and the ongoing legislative works to align Polish law with the EU regulation.

With reference to the decision of the International Olympic Committee, we strongly oppose the full reinstatement of athletes from Belarus to international sports competitions. As long as Minsk continues to support Russia's invasion of Ukraine, no concessions to the aggressors are acceptable. We stand in solidarity with Ukraine. Sport must not be used as a tool for normalising war and propaganda.

At a press breakfast attended by Jakub Rutnicki, Minister for Sport and Tourism, as well as representatives of the football community and the media, programmes implemented by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism were presented. The directions of systemic support to the development of football in Poland were also discussed, with a particular focus on increasing the number of young players training and competing on the pitches in Poland.

A press conference on hosting the 2028 European Athletics Championships was held today at Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium. The event was attended by Piotr Borys, Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism, Wojciech Saługa, Marshal of Silesian Voivodeship, and Sebastian Chmara, President of the Polish Athletics Federation. The meeting confirmed Poland's readiness to host one of Europe's main sports events.

On Friday, 24 April 2026 at PGE Narodowy National Stadium Minister for Sport and Tourism Jakub Rutnicki met with representatives of Polish sports federations, the Ministry of State Assets, the Central Military Sports Association and the Olympic movement.

At the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, a meeting was held with Kamil Stoch, one of the best athletes in the history of Polish winter sports. The event marked the end of his sporting career and provided an opportunity to look back at his great achievements over years and to express appreciation for his contribution to the development and promotion of Polish sport.

Poland's largest football project for young players is back. On 15 April, registration opened for the third edition of the tournament From Orlik pitch to the Stadium, organised as part of the government's Active School programme. It offers young players not only an opportunity to experience great emotions on sports pitches but also to win access to the finals to be held at a professional football stadium. The main prize desired by all young footballers is the participation in a training camp in a football club abroad.

At the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, a press conference with the participation of Deputy Minister Ireneusz Raś was held on the draft regulation on so-called short-term rentals. The planned changes aim to bring order to the rapidly growing market, increase the safety of tourist service users and bring Polish law into line with new EU regulations.

Over 900 sports clubs from all over Poland have been selected as eligible to take part in the third edition of the KLUB PRO Programme of support to sports club. The aim of the programme is to provide funding to sports clubs that are the best in sports training provision to young people in Poland. This year, the allocations can amount to a total of PLN 104,696,000. The call for applications will be open until 30 April. The national partner and operator of the programme is Halina Konopacka LOTTO Foundation.
