Maja Chwalińska visits the Ministry of Sport and Tourism

Maja Chwalińska, vice-champion at this year's Roland Garros Grand Slam tournament, was a guest at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism on Tuesday, 9 June. Minister for Sport and Tourism Jakub Rutnicki awarded the Polish player a 12-month sports scholarship in the highest possible amount of 9,600 PLN gross per month. The decision was announced during the Tuesday meeting.

In the last two weeks, Maja Chwalińska has become one of the greatest tennis stars not only in Poland but also in the world. Thanks to her beautiful and unpredictable style of play and her persistence, the athlete from Miechów (Małopolskie Province) has won the hearts of fans all over the world. 

On Tuesday, 9 June the Polish player paid a visit to the Ministry of Sport and Tourism in Warsaw at the invitation of Jakub Rutnicki, Minister of Sport and Tourism. The meeting was an opportunity to offer congratulations, discuss the events of the recent weeks and outline plans for the future. 

Minister Rutnicki awarded the Polish player, pursuant to Article 32c(1) of the Act on Sport, a 12-month sports scholarship in the highest possible amount of 9,600 PLN gross per month. The decision was announced during the Tuesday meeting.

Thanks to her achievement, Maja Chwalińska has become the first player in the Open era to reach the Roland Garros finals after coming through the qualifiers. This way, Maja Chwalińska has achieved one of the most inspiring and unexpected successes in the history of Polish tennis. 

Maja Chwalińska is a player at Beskidzki Klub Tenisowy Advantage Bielsko-Biała. The club, as the Polish team champion, has been a beneficiary of the Ministry’s KLUB PRO Programme since its first edition in 2024. Between 2024 and 2026, the club was awarded over 200 thousand PLN for young players’ training. 

The Ministry of Sport and Tourism, as the main sponsor of Polish sport, also allocates funding to the Polish Tennis Federation. Between 2025 and 2026, the federation received over 30 million PLN, including for the training of Polish female national team players and their participation in international tournaments.
