The Minister of Sport and Tourism, in consultation with the Minister of Finance and Economy, has found that, in connection with the outbreak of military actions in some Middle East countries, unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances have occurred, within the meaning of the Act on Package Travel.
This applies to the following countries:

  • Saudi Arabia,
  • Bahrain,
  • Iran,
  • Israel,
  • Jordan,
  • Qatar,
  • Kuwait,
  • Lebanon,
  • Oman,
  • Palestine, and
  • United Arab Emirates.

It is thus possible to release funds from the Tourist Aid Fund to reimburse travellers for package travel that has not taken place or will not take place due to the situation.

At present, the support is available for travel packages that were to start between 28 February 2026 and 27 March 2026.

Withdrawal from the contract by the traveller or termination of the contract by the tour operator, in the case of trips to take place in the territories of the above mentioned countries or trips to include a transfer or stopover in their territories, may take place between 28 February and 27 March 2026.

Applications for reimbursement from the Tourist Aid Fund may be submitted by travellers and tour operators to the Insurance Guarantee Fund since 5 March 2026, within 14 days of the notification of the withdrawal from the contract or termination of the contract.
