Jakub Rutnicki
Minister of Sport and Tourism
Jakub Rutnicki - Polish political scientist and politician, member of the Sejm (Polish Parliament) in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th terms.
In 2002, he graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań with a degree in Political Science, Political Marketing, and Local Government. In that year, he also joined the Civic Platform (Platforma Obywatelska) party. From 2002 to 2005 he was a member of Szamotuły County Council.
During the 9th term of the Sejm, Jakub Rutnicki was the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism. Before, he was a member of the Sejm's Standing Subcommittee on Poland’s preparations for the UEFA EURO 2012 European Football Championship and the coordinator of the programme of Orlik sports pitches construction in Wielkopolskie voivodeship. For the last 20 years he has been the organizer of a beach volleyball amateur tournament called Rutnicki Cup.
Jakub Rutnicki has been a member of the Parliament since 2005, representing constituency no. 38 that includes e.g. his hometown of Szamotuły. In the parliamentary elections held on 15 October 2023 he won 67,069 votes.
In the 10th term of the Sejm, until July 2025, he was engaged e.g. in the works of the Parliamentary Committee on Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism, the Parliamentary Team for Sports Infrastructure, the Parliamentary Team for Preventing Addictions, the Parliamentary Team for Water Rescue and the Parliamentary Team of Wielkopolskie voivodeship.
On 24 July 2025 he was appointed Minister of Sport and Tourism by President Andrzej Duda.
