Żaneta Cwalina-Śliwowska
Secretary of State
A specialist in social pedagogy; sports dance, cheerleading and majorette dancing instructor; social activist and Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, closely connected with the city of Ostrołęka and the Kurpie region.
She graduated in social pedagogy from the University of Zielona Góra and completed postgraduate studies in culture management at the Warsaw School of Economics.
She pursued a sports career in ballroom dancing, in which she achieved the S Class level. After leaving competitive sport, she worked as a coach and organiser of sports events for children and young people. In 2013, she founded the Progress Association for Development Through Dance, based in Ostrołęka, and worked as its president until taking up a seat as Member of Parliament. The association runs regular education and sports activities supporting the development of children and young people through dance, sport, culture and engagement in local community life. She initiated the integration of the majorette dance movement in Poland. In 2021-2023, she served as vice-president of the Majorette Sport Association, the national organisation of majorette clubs, which organises sports competitions in majorette dancing.
On 15 October 2023, she was elected to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland for its 10th term. She represents constituency no. 18 (Siedlce) that includes the region of Ostrołęka, from which she comes. She received 9,747 votes. She was also a member of the Presidium of the ‘Centrum’ Parliamentary Club.
She works, among others, on the Parliamentary Committee on Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism as chair of the Standing Sub-Committee on Non-Olympic Sports and Sports Infrastructure, as well as on the Committee on Education and Science.
On 25 May 2026, she was appointed Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
