Every day, you prove with your excellent, exemplary service, full of resistance and dedication, that the plans to destabilise our country will not succeed. Thanks to you, Border Guard officers, the Polish borders are safe

Minister Mariusz Kamiński said at the conference.

I express my highest appreciation and respect, but also thanks, on behalf of all Polish citizens. What you do is awesome, incredible and essential for our country,

- he added.

Minister Mariusz Kamiński conveyed that the new vehicles are intended for patrol duty and will support Border Guard officers in their daily service.

After our ceremony, all the vehicles will set off for the eastern borders with Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. These borders are specially protected today since war is being waged across them in Ukraine. Russia and Belarus are ruled by politicians who are hostile to Poland, whose aim, among other things, is to destabilise the situation in our country. These cars will substantially support our officers' challenging work

- he stated.

Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard, Major General Tomasz Praga, stressed that the vehicles would be a natural support for securing the borders with Russia and Belarus. He also thanked the Border Guard and police officers, the soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces, firefighters from the State Fire Service and the Voluntary Fire Brigade, who supported them, for their commitment to border protection.

Poles can feel safe precisely because all these services are on duty both on the border and within the national territory

- the Commander concluded.

During the event, it was reported that an electronic barrier equipped, among other things, with camera and sensor systems was being completed on the Polish-Belarusian border. It complements the steel construction erected in 2022. The electronic dam will ultimately be more than 200 km long. Work is still underway on the final section of nearly 25 km, near Narewka and Białowieża.

Moreover, an electronic barrier of about 200 km will be built on the border with Russia. It will cover the entire land border with the Kaliningrad Oblast, except for the Vistula Spit, as electronic monitoring devices have been in place along this section for several years.

New vehicles for the Border Guard

The Border Guard will be provided with 62 off-road vehicles. So far, the Border Guard units have taken delivery of 56 ones, and the remaining 6 will be handed over by the end of March.

The new cars are Toyota Land Cruisers, whose total value is nearly PLN 21.3 million. The acquisition of the vehicles was financed from the 'Programme for Modernisation of the Police, Border Guard, State Fire Service and State Protection Service in 2022-2025'. The Government Agency for Strategic Reserves carried out the purchase.

The following Border Guard Regional Units: Morski, Warmińsko-Mazurski, Podlaski, Nadbużański and Bieszczadzki use off-road vehicles. They have nearly 78 per cent of all off-road vehicles possessed by the Border Guard.

The new cars are equipped with many innovative technical solutions to exploit their potential in harsh off-road conditions.

They have been handed over to all units of the Border Guard. Most of them will be delivered to the Podlaski Border Guard Regional Unit (19), the Nadbużański Border Guard Regional Unit (18), the Warmińsko-Mazurski Border Guard Regional Unit and the Bieszczadzki Border Guard Regional Unit (10 vehicles each).
