Adaptation centres for repatriates

Granting a place in an adaptation centre for repatriates is considered as one of the evidences confirming the conditions for settlement.

Entities entitled to run adaptation centres are selected by means of a competition. The requirements to be met by competition participants and by candidates for heads of centres are set out in Chapter 4a ‘Adaptation centres for repatriates’. On the other hand, the minimum requirements for equipping centres are contained in the Ordinance of the Minister of the Interior and Administration of 8 May 2017 on minimum requirements for equipping adaptation centres for repatriates (Journal of Laws of 2017, item 956).

In adaptation centres, repatriates are provided with:

  1. accommodation in a room suitable for the personal properties of persons placed in the centre, in particular age, gender and state of health
  2. full board consisting of three meals, including one hot meal, and drinks
  3. 24-hour access to facilities and equipment enabling self-catering preparation
  4. 24-hour access to hygienic and sanitary facilities and equipment
  5. cleaning products necessary to maintain personal hygiene, including for minors
  6. the ability to perform at their own expense, and in particularly justified cases – at the expense of the call centre using devices remaining in the facility’s equipment, including faxes
  7. free access to broadband internet
  8. the opportunity to participate in adaptive and integration activities and classes to learn about Polish history, traditions and customs, as well as Polish language courses and vocational courses

In adaptation centres for repatriates, classes are conducted (in a language understandable to repatriates) regarding:

  1. healthcare system
  2. education system
  3. local safety
  4. pro-family policy and social assistance
  5. labour market and employee rights
  6. rights of disabled people and procedures for obtaining a disability or degree of disability certificate

Oversight over adaptation centres is exercised by the Government Plenipotentiary for Repatriation.
