The visit aimed to present the complex situation at this section of the external border of the European Union, which results from the Belarusian regime’s hybrid actions and requires extraordinary measures to strengthen border protection and ensure the security of the Schengen area.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Bartosz Grodecki provided information on the current situation on the Poland-Belarus border and the measures taken by the Polish Government to ensure border security and stop the Lukashenko regime’s further actions. Deputy Minister stressed that Poland prevents illegal border crossings by migrants directed to the border by Belarusian services.

The Director reviewed the Border Guard’s operations and confirmed that the border is adequately secured. He also confirmed that Poland has been cooperating with the Frontex Agency since the beginning of the crisis through the ongoing exchange of information and providing the Agency with data on the situation on the Polish section of the external border. Poland has also been active in providing assistance to other countries under migratory pressure. Among others, it deployed the necessary equipment and human resources for the Frontex operation in Lithuania.

The visit to Poland's Eastern border follows agreements that have been reached between Deputy Minister Bartosz Grodecki and the Executive Director of Frontex since the crisis broke out.
