This is the first time that Pakistan's Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, has been on a visit to Poland. The meeting was also attended by the commanders of the Polish Border Guard and the Police. The main topics of discussion were migration and the fight against crime.

Poland is hosting a meeting of great importance to the region

The meeting at the Ministry of Interior and Administration’s headquarters in Warsaw provided a forum for discussing key security issues. One of these was the fight against illegal migration – particularly in view of the Belarusian regime’s exploitation of this phenomenon, with Russia’s support, against Poland and Europe. Pakistan is an important partner in discussions in this area.

Delegations from Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Lithuania also presented their views and a number of observations on the evolving security situation in our region. The positions taken by our closest partners are of particular significance in the context of the broader picture of regional security. Every day, our countries and security services cooperate in various ways to prevent and eliminate risks, threats and provocations directed against public order and the security of our countries. By working together, we are stronger.

The fight against illegal migration takes place on many levels

Poland has secured its eastern border with the Republic of Belarus in response to the artificial migratory pressure created by the Lukashenko and Putin regimes. Countries in the region that are close to us are also reporting a number of provocations and hybrid activities from the East – including those linked to illegal migration.

Today’s meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control focused largely on devising possible solutions that would make it possible, through joint efforts, to effectively curb illegal migration to the European Union via the Belarusian route.

During the meeting, which was attended by senior officials from the Polish Border Guard and the Police, cooperation between the Polish and Pakistani authorities was also discussed. International cooperation between law enforcement agencies is an important aspect of broadening the scope of our officers’ activities – in terms of both operations and training.
