Joint statement by the Polish and Lithuanian Ministers of the

On 4 August 2023, Minister of the Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński spoke on the phone with the Lithuanian Minister of the Interior Agnė Bilotaitė. The ministers discussed the current situation on the border with Belarus along with the terms of a regular, day-to-day mechanism for cooperation between Poland, Lithuania and the other Baltic States.

During the call, the ministers also reached a consensus on response plans for dealing with ongoing threats from the Belarusian side, as well as possible future provocations in the border area. They also discussed ideas for a mechanism that would be put in place should all border crossings to Belarus have to be shut down, resulting in the isolation of the Lukashenko regime.

The two parties emphasised the strong, positive cooperation in the area of security between Poland and Lithuania.
