Meeting with the Minister of the Interior of Austria

On Tuesday, 17 January, Minister Mariusz Kamiński met with the Austrian Minister of the Interior, Gerhard Karner. The talks concerned, among other things, countering migratory pressures, the functioning of the Schengen Area and Polish-Austrian police cooperation. Deputy Minister Bartosz Grodecki also participated in the meeting.

Moreover, the representatives of the Polish and Austrian sides addressed the challenges of the war in Ukraine and the reception of war refugees from that country.

After the meeting at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Minister Gerhard Karner went to the Treblinka memorial site. Responsibility for the memorial sites of former extermination camps falls within the remit of the Austrian Minister of the Interior.
